Shilpa tops the charts...again in Europe

Within two weeks of its release in the European market, Shilpa Shetty's fitness DVD 'Shilpa's Yoga' has topped the charts, giving tough competition to other recently released workout videos of fitness specialists Davina McCall, Samanda, Erin Boag, Karen Hardy , Rebecca Wheatley, Nell McAndrew, Fleur Murray, Lilia Kopylova, Gaynor Faye and Danielle Llyod.

"Everyone wants to maintain a slim waist without dieting and Shilpa's yoga secrets seem to be helping achieve that. No doubt the DVD is selling like cakes," says her publicist Dale Bhagwagar.

In 'Shilpa's Yoga', the actress reveals her fitness secrets to create a lean and toned body while retaining all the feminine curves. Outlining the various benefits of yoga, t he DVD demonstrates specific sequences to enhance concentration, agility and flexibility.

"It showcases the right techniques of doing ashtanga yoga including breathing techniques. Shilpa has been a regular practitioner of yoga from four years, but took special added intensive training from yoga trainers Shiv Kumar Mishra and Vinayak Dixit for some time, making sure she perfected the asans before demonstrating them to the world," adds Bhagwagar.

Shot at the backwaters in Kerala, 'Shilpa's Yoga' is directed by Manish Jha (of the critically-acclaimed feature films 'Matrabhoomi' and 'Anwar' fame). While Arghya Lahiri has written the script, the camerawork is handled by Englishman Jamie Sowlds.

To go with the mood and feel, the package also contains a free lounge music CD with compositions by Pankaj Awasthi. This is to help unwind and relax after practicing the yoga techniques.

Released by Firefly Entertainment , the DVD is produced by Shilpa's newly launched production house 'S2 Global Productions'.

Shahid cried after Kareena left him

Shahid Kapoor has finally opened up on his breakup with Kareena Kapoor. He said that he felt very upset when they were parting and cried many times. Since the two of them had been together for so long he was down in life for quite some time. The actor added that the success of Jab We Met changed his life back to normal and at present the only thing that he is focusing on is his work.

Shahid also accepted to have started smoking due to the stress he was going through in his life. Hrithik Roshan is currently touring the country promoting his epic film Jodha Akbar directed by Oscar nominated Ashutosh Gowariker. Nothing much is revealed about his next project other than the fact that he will do an item number in a film to be produced by his dad. Shah Rukh on the other hand had only recently announced that he will start work on Karan Johar’s My Name is Khan later this year.

Latest news from the Yash Raj banner is that Yash Chopra’s director son Aditya Chopra will soon wield the megaphone for a film after a gap of nearly eight years. The last time he did so was for the multi starrer Mohabbatein. This time around he is in talks with Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh to work together for this romantic flick, which will have Preity Zinta and his muse Rani Mukherjee playing female leads. Sources close to the director indicate that the two male stars last seen together in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham have given their consent and that they intend starting production in Greece by June, this year. Let’s hope this film creates as much buzz as their earlier outing together.

Music Launch of ‘ Jodhaa Akbar ’

The music launch of Ashutosh Gowarikar’s mega project ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ was held on a grand scale amidst a grand assembly of Bollywood stars belonging to various genres. The gala function was held at Grand Hyatt, Kalina, Mumbai, late Wednesday evening, on January 9.

The musical notes of the film have been given by A.R.Rahman who has successfully given the essence of Mughal era in the scores. The music has been released under the newly launched UTV music label.

Although there were celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, A.R. Rahman, Sonu Nigam, Javed Akhtar, Akbar Khan, Zayed Khan, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Hrithik’s wife Suzanne Khan, Shatrughan Sinha, Kulbushan Kharbanda, Raza Murad, among others to graced the function, the couple who stole the limelight was none other than the leading cast of the film, Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The highlight of the function was the speeches of the stars of the movie on the film and their respective characters in the film.

Salman's gift to Tussauds

In all likelihood, Salman Khan will part ways with his lucky bracelet, circled in the picture.

A source informs Gullu that Salman may gift it to the Madame Tussauds museum, to have it slung around the wrist of his wax figure, when it is unveiled on January 15.

Reportedly, the star was so touched by the museum's gesture to immortalise him in wax that he decided to part ways with the bracelet that was gifted to him by his father, Salim Khan.

The bracelet is so dear to Salman that he even wears it when he is shooting for his movies.

Salman will share his space in Tussauds along with other Bollywood personalities Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aishwarya Rai.

You’re called King Khan. With your six-pack abs, you’ve become the fittest king around..
(Smiles) Thanks.. but the six-pack abs is hyped. It’s as good as growing a beard for Chak De. The second half of the film required me to look like the current crop of stars with long hair and toned body. I worked towards it, and now I like it. My son always thought I was fat.. but now he thinks I look stronger.

First half of Om Shanti Om is inspired by the 70s. What are your favourites from that era?
Seventies was the era of true-blue masala films. I often say that the term Bollywood, actually comes from the films during that era.

OSO and Saawariya are releasing at the same time. Is Saawariya a threat?
I have no angst because of Saawariya. Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) has given me a film, which will be remembered even when I am gone. Both Ranbir and Sonam have grown up in front me. Very few people know that I wanted to cast Ranbir in Main Hoon Naa.

Does Shah Rukh.. the producer, feel the same?
As a producer I’ll not leave any stone unturned to outdo Sony, Columbia, Tristar. If I’m called the King Khan, I better take-on the biggest in the world. When I go to the US, Sony doesn’t release my films. My competition is not against Sanjay or Sonam or Ranbir. It’s the Columbia Tristar, so they better be ready.

The year has seen many promising new comers. Who do you think will be your next competitor?
(laughs) I have a great body of work behind me and it’s unfair to compare them with me, at such an initial stage. The other day I was telling my wife that now Akshay Kumar is ousting me. Akki and I have been friends for years. Every year, I compete with myself. Every year I give the biggest hits. The biggest hit of the year is Chak De.. and once again I have to beat myself first.

'My name is Anthony Gonsalves' banned in Bihar?

E. Niwas on-release film ‘My Name is Anthony Gonzalves’ has been banned in Bihar. The reason being an ongoing tussle between the actor, Mithun Chakraborty, and a local producer -distributor, due to which Mithun da’s films are banned in Bihar. Mithun plays a priest in the film.

The dirft dates back to the time when Dada’s Bengali film entitled ‘Coolie’ was dubbed into Bhojpuri without the actor’s consent and by using someone else’s voice in dubbed Bhojpuri film. The incensed actor retaliated by refusing to return money paid as signing amount for another proposed film to be made by the same Bihari producer-distributor.

Niwas is obviously disturbed and says, “I had no clue about Mithun-da’s ban in Bihar. It seems so strange to be kept out of the state where my first film Shool was set. I really wouldn’t want Anthony Gonzalves to be be kept out of Bihar. But I don’t know how I can help the situation.”

Mallika Sherawat - Escalating Demands?

Mallika Sherawat is turning out to a nightmare for her producers these days. First, she made it clear to the producers of ‘Welcome’ that she would not promote the film if the promos carried Mallika Arora Khan’s item number. The producers gave in and the promos of ‘Hoth Rasile’ item number went on air much after the release of the film. Then, she walked out of Kundan Shah’s ‘Masquerade’ owing to differences with the director leaving the film’s destiny in mid-air as the producers too quit the film owing to Mallika’s exit. Next, it was the rift with Rangita Nandy on the sets of ‘Ugly Aur Pagli’ that was doing the rounds.

The latest buzz that’s doing the rounds is that Mallika Sherawat wants her film ‘Fauj Mein Mauj’ to be re-shot and that too when 70 % of the film has already been canned. It was apparent from the beginning that the gal wasn’t too happy with the film but she continued with it as she was and is the only known star in the film.

Now, the debutant producer, though totally zabbed with this, has given in to Mallika’s demands to re-shoot the entire film. Mallika states that she has asked this as she is unhappy with the way she looks in the film. This way, Madamme Mallika will not be able to run for long, coz, this is Bollywood where ‘I m the best’ attitude applies for nobody except SRK.

Excitement About Jadhoo Akabr. Aishwarya Rai's Hrithik Roshan's new project.

“Jodha Akbar” a UTV venture, is the most awaited film of the year. which is based on a romance between the 16th century Muslim Mughal emperor Akbar, played by Hrithik Roshan, and a Hindu princess, Jodha Bai, played by Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai.

Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the movie will also be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu languages.

Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan states that all the actors in the movie ‘Jodha Akbar’ had worked very hard and had done the film with ‘full passion’.

To this question Ash stated “At certain times certain films do well…certain films do not do that well. It’s a very tricky thing.”

On the other hand bollywood movie star Hrithik Roshan says he deliberately choose this movie , as acting out the difficult role of the Mongol emperor in the new historical romance “Jodha Akbar” gave him an opportunity to excel as an actor.

“It is only when it seems to threaten the value of my job would I be consciously giving it my best,” he said.

SaifAliKhan's Tatto's Karina's Name on his Arm

Saif is out proclaiming his love for Kareena. The man is so madly in love that he has no qualms about this issue. We hear that Saif has got Kareena’s name tattooed in Devnagri on his arm at Hakim’s Alim in Bandra.

The man really took some pain searching and browsing through different calligraphic styles so as to finalize the shape of the tattoo.

Finally, after much resolution he walked into Hakim’s Alim in Bandra and sat for a two-three hour session to get Kareena’s name tattooed in Devnagari- an ancient Indian language.

The tattoo was reportedly done in indelible ink.
